The best movie I've seen this year is the best one I've seen in probably 2 or 3 years. Slumdog Millionaire.

But wasn't that from 2008?

It was.
Maybe, if we ask nicely, we could get a mod to change the thread title to Best New Releases, 2009.

Well, The Hurt Locker was technically released last year since it debuted at Venice Film Fest. It's just now being wide-released in America though, so does it count? If so, I'm changing my vote to The Hurt Locker. If not, I'll stick with Public Enemies.

Night AT The Museum-part deux. Have to love Hank Azaria's Boris Karloff impersonation! Truly a laugh a minute.

I've maybe seen 20 movies in the cinema in 2009. I would have to say Taken is the best I've seen...

This year has been pretty thin for really excellent movies but I liked Star Trek a lot, plus Gran Torino and UP.

Really enjoyed Gran Torino.

Ooh la la...yes, I forgot...Gran Torino was superb...Clint is my fave...where I live the movies are limited...used to live in Denver and went to the Landmark Theaters...now I go to Lyric Cinema in Fort Collins...they don't get as many movies, although they do a good job on a limited basis...there used to be a Landmark in Boulder and it closed a couple years ago...could have cried because movies are my passion, and on the big screen, not on a TV screen
