Ride was a big band for me in the 1990's. They are heralded in indie music circles as a great band but never broke mainstream. If luck and timing might have been a little different, I think they would at least of enjoyed the same success as Oasis.

Neat thread! I have the Holiday In Cambodia single with Police Truck on the reverse side.

I thought the Bliss Band from the west coast in the late 70s was pretty solid. Some of their songs reminded me a bit of the Doobies or Steely Dan. They made two albums and I don't really know much else about them. I have their second one (Neon Smiles) from 1979. Here's one of their originals that Uriah Heep did very well with a couple of years later.

I've always felt that Porcupine Tree has plenty of songs that could get huge mainstream success, but the band just has a cult following:

So true! I just found them recently after finding their drummer on Youtube, great band!
