http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jRiF_THZTYI - Barenaked Ladies pretty often have a kind of a jokey quality. I think this one was a mainstream hit.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6G7MkBMVxE - Granted more humorous because of what I thought they were singing.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ixqbc7X2NQY - Kind-of a jokey song about a guy being drunk and thinking a transvestite is a woman.

I don't know that these songs are mainstream, but the bands involved are/were more or less mainstream.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XazaOWrnJ5o - B-side to "Love Stinks", more of a bizarre story than a song.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FqVGr843h1E - Darlene Edwards is "Jo Stafford", a mainstream traditional pop singer, and as Darlene she won a comedy Grammy.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BeyrRDarUXg - Although dealing with maybe a serious issue I think there's likely a bit of humor in it.

One from the homeland of New Jersey, John Gorka:

"New Jersey people
They will surprise you
Cause they're not expected
To do too much"
