One man/woman's good oldies are another's bad or at least lame songs. I bought "It Must Be Him" because my mother liked the song. Every time she asked me to play the record I told her I could have had her prosecuted for child abuse.
(I bought that because the girl with whom I was going at the time liked it and, well, you know the hormonal male. That was a lesson for me in letting the hormones overrule taste. This song is getting off on something that cannot be gotten off on!)
Come to think of it, the song Yankovic parodied to make his bones in the first place could qualify as a hit you wouldn't dare admit to helping make a hit . . . even if you might have thought it was pretty clever of them to lift the riff from the Spencer Davis Group's "Gimme Some Lovin'" and play it backward for the riff of their biggie . . .
I admit it, I loved and still love Grease. I can still sing and act out the whole thing. I dragged my boyfriend at the time to see it. He thought I was nuts!
But my deep dark secret.... I love and still sing "I think I love you" by the Partidge family! Shhhhhhh..don't tell.
