I was going for bleak before, and these are maybe more like sad, but hopefully that works.
No-one can define for you what you find sad or depressing as that's a personal choice. No-one really knows why a certain song resonates with us or may remind us of a sad time in our life.
This song reminds of me of the cold truth that we can only rely on ourselves...
"The morning breaks so cold and gray
and i'm still here, alone
it's all the same, the years have passed
so slow and gray, with nothing"
Bright Eyes - Poison Oak -- Bright Eyes [lyrics] - Lover I Don't Have to Love --

I git you Thomas -- for me to explain probably sounds rude to this crowd-- & I don't know how else to talk in a different way as you can see by the songs I put in as Depressed -- & bother to listen to
The Title of this thread (Music of the depressed) to ME implied--
-- I would hear songs of Depression which does have a clinical definition--
--or music FROM singers who suffered from Depression -- or songs from people here who are clinically depressed -- or songs by artist, created while being depressed or experiencing depression --
-- but real depression you know -- the kind you go to the hospital over.
Depression isn't a choice just that your brain is messed up-- unless yall talking about some other kinda depression I don't know about.
-- like feeling worthless, suicidal, death obessesed, no energy, no interest in anything -- I mean real Depression & songs about it!
--Or songs FROM people who's suffered from Depression like
--Beyonce, Janet Jackson, Alicia Keys, Micheal Hutchence, Ozzy or Leonard Cohen etc-- theres lots of artistic people/singers who's suffered from the Depression I'm talking about & know that blackness--
--Or songs that people who SUFFERED from Depression listen to --
But I forgot the older crowd feels ashamed of being that Real or can't git with that kinda Depression & will go off in a thousand tangents, where people who have lived with people with depression or suffer from it got a whole nother take on it.
To know that kinda Blackness of Soul is way intense, the music would be different & its way past being sad-- to the point of being in a hospital--
--anyway for those who thought I was rude I'm sorry I hurt your feelings--
-- try to see it from my point of view & maybe it won't seem so rude or hurtful -- try to understand why for me it was disappointin-- expectin something different, hardcore even-- blantantly honest & raw-- a different way of relating than yours.
-- this was where I was coming from & expecting.
With another teen if we talk about being depressed that means suicidal, no purpose for breathin or worthlessness -- if we're talking about songs of depression that means songs of worthlessness, bleakness etc or singers who suffer/suffered from depression & the songs they sing etc.
--the language we use & its meaning is different & its my responsibility to remember the age group here & what words mean to yall since I'm choosin to post here & not give up like a bunch of other teens out of frustration.
Thomas I can tell would git what I was after cause even if he couldn't find those kinda songs he was motivated in that direction of feelin.
Anyway Imma stop talkin.
