I dont,not really.....

Im listening to my Shaun Cassidy record (First album) and there are @ least 3 songs FROM THE 60s!! (Which were much better)

IM NOT LISTENING TO SHAUN CASSIDY TO HEAR REDONE GARBAGE!!!!!! (No covers are better than the orginals 99% of the time and I dont wanna hear it!! (I want the artists OWN WORK,not stolen music from another band who made the song GOLD!!))

I would have thought that in 1977 there was MORE PURITY STILL HERE than what I hear on his first 2 albums!! (Both 1977)

Judas Priest's cover of Diamonds and Rust was better than the original.

If they do a good job with it, I'm okay with it.

There are certain artists I usually don't like to see covered. Pink Floyd is chief among them. Rage Against The Machine is another.

This is one of the very few Floyd covers I like.

I like some covers, such as T.a.Tu.s How Soon Is Now, and Trains AOL Live session of Umbrella. Sometimes covers are better, not always, but sometimes.

To me when they are done by the right person, you can't go wrong with them.

God bless you always!!!

Holly

P.S. My newest favorite, the late beautiful precious Billy Joe Royal happened to cover a lot of songs and I love to hear him sing them all!

Some covers are really good. Michael Hedges' version of "All Along the Watchtower" comes to mind. In fact, many covers of Dylan songs are as good as the originals or better. He's one of the most-covered artists, so that's not surprising.

The Grateful Dead did some really nice Dylan covers, their versions of "Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues", "Knocking on Heaven's Door" and "When I Paint my Masterpiece" are some of my favorites out of the huge number of Dylan songs they played.

I like Govt. Mule's version of "She Said, She Said" better than the original, because it's super soulful, which goes better with the lyrics IMO. Another cool cover is Chris Cornell's version of Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean." He slows it down and makes it really mournful and atmospheric.

I also like Joss Stone's take on White Stripes' "Fell in Love With a Girl." She calls hers "Fell in Love With a Boy," and makes it super funky, but otherwise it's the same song. Very creative- I love it when people get creative with covers and change them up in a good way!

There are tons of other cover versions of songs that I like, but it would take way too long to list them all here, and I think I've listed enough now, anyway!

Sure. Some are good. Hendrix covering Dylan, Jeff Buckley's version of "hallelujah" automatically spring to mind.

I like the covers Metallica did of Nick Cave's Loverman, almost better than the original. Plus their cover of Turn the Page. Sometimes they are better. I like how London Grammar covered INXS' "Devil Inside", completely different. I also prefer White Stripes' "Jolene" version too.
