So true it hurts. I was in high school when Master P and No Limit was starting to take over and I and most everybody around the nation fell for it. Especially with the No Limit Soldiers marketing ploy. It worked. But when I look back at it, I shake my head. We actually liked that garbage. But, I wouldn't just place blame on Master P. Diddy had some doings on it himself. With the shiny suit era. He was the one that really started the bling era, not Cash Money. Those two started it but there was still some good music out there on the radio. THAN, 50 cent came in late 2002 and as result, you hear what you hear on the radio.
I never understood the master p craze I heard make em say ugh and I was ike naw that's okay lol the only song I ever liked from no limit was the montell jordan song that sillk the shocker was featured on

I agree with the poster that said rap was ruined when the "rappers" stopped caring. If it's a craft, you need to practice it and perfect it just like an athlete. I remember back when all we had was tape players - the whole tape had to be fire for you to be considered a "good rapper". If I had to fast forward past most of the tape to get to the good songs that meant you were garbage, but now we have rappers selling a million copies of CDs with 18 tracks and only 3 good ones are the singles that are being overplayed on BET

Well since rap and hip-hop are two different monsters, this is an impossible question to ask. The person asking this question doesn't seem to know any better.
LOL, same here! Walking around singing that song and not knowing the true meaning of it!
LOL there were so many songs that I didn't get until somebody explained it to me. You know that song Kryptonite with Big Boi and a bunch of other people? I never really paid attention to the words (they were radio edited anyway) I just knew the chorus. One of my friends later explained that they were talking about weed..."I'm on that Kryp tonight"...oh now it makes sense
Oh and the Sugar song by Trick Daddy? Yeah that went wayyyy over my head. "She put that sugar on my hot sauce" lol I was like WTF are they talking about?
I was watching making of the band (no one say a word) and it just amazes that people take Diddy seriously. I was watching and I kept thinking - do they not realize he has absolutely no talent? Then they premiered the new Day 26 video and he was in the video more than they were PLUS he stuck Yung Joc in there reciting the same rap he did on the Dannity Kane single. As long as Diddy's running around releasing microwaved music hip-hop will never recover.
