Meh year, only five songs got my vote.

Love Rollercoaster
Love Machine
Love Hangover(notice a pattern?)
Disco Lady
Rock n'Me

I could have voted for Wild Cherry, Four Seasons but they did not make the cut.

Don't go Breaking My Heart

So, was 1976 the nadir for pop music?

Rock n Me ...Steve Miller Band

Silly Love Songs ...while not the greatest McCartney song by far...the lyrics are silly (intentionally?),
it does feature some amazing bass playing by Sir Paul.

1976 was a pretty poor year for music in general.

Probably why the classic rock era is generally thought as being 1965-1975

Ironically...Barry Manilow's "I Write the Songs" was not written by Manilow,
Bruce Johnston of the Beach Boys wrote it!!

None of the above.

1976 was a great year for music in the realm of progressive rock, which isn't represented in that list.

As with most of these the best music of the year is not represented. For example there isnt one rock song to be found besides Rockn Me, there was tons of good rock that year, I was in high school and listening to it. Lots of disco, lots of sappy light rock.

Best song of this lame list: Play That Funky Music.
