The following poll is a list of songs that hit number 1 in the United States Billboard Hot 100 in the year 2012.
Your vote is not public, and you can only choose one song.
Which was the best one?
I voted for Gotye, because it was at least interesting. I like that it was recorded in a shack, and the album had a variety of songs, that didn't necessarily reflect the 'hit' single.
I voted for Adele's Fire to the Rain because I think Adele's voice and the piano accompaniment are unique and have a quality that can stand the test of time and still be seen as quality music in 5, 10, or 30+ years.
Although I do have to say I like Taylor Swift's music, for the fun pop music that it is. "We are never ever getting back together", while catchy like most of her songs, wasn't her very strongest work, though.
Here are 5 songs from 2012 that are way better than the list above
Death Grips - I've Seen Footage
Beach House - Myth
Grizzly Bear - Yet Again
Tame Impala - Feels Like We Only Go Backwards
DIIV - How Long Have You Known
