I'm 46. I want nineties lyrics with 2010s beats. I feel like the older generation continues to put out records trying to reach the same place they were at their peak. I'm thinking of records like Nasir and 4:44. I try to listen to the records. I want to love them but they don't feel the same as older work from these artists.

This is why I don't get into arguments about Tupac and Biggie. I think, were they still alive, they would have put out their Nasir, Kamikaze, or 4:44 by now. Some of you would love it. Some of you would hate it. But I don't think any of you would still proclaim that they're the best ever.

Maybe it is technically impossible to give us the lyrics we want over the type of beats the younger artists have now. I don't know I've often wondered that. And I've seen similar things with other types of music. For example when Michael Jackson was alive I always anticipated new music but it always sounded like an evolution of his old sound, not necessarily Off The Wall, Thriller or Bad but like an evolution on the sound set with the Dangerous record. And that sound would have never changed, even if he were alive today and putting out records. Like Public Enemy still puts out records and they're interesting but they're not reaching the greatness I witnessed on the first few albums.

Which really sucks right? Beats are amazing. But lyrics are like at an all time low.

Then the artists that have the right flow and cadence and can give us a real 16 that just happen to be young no one wants to listen to these guys.

I love Nasir! Have you seen the short film? It gives a totally new meaning to the entire album.

What about Kendrick Lamar? I am obsessed with Lamar. I love his records so much; and he has so much artistic value.

I also like J. Cole.

Might want to check out Joey Bada$$.

The latest Pusha T record, Daytona, is incredible. The guy has bars for life.

Schoolboy Q is another artist I like!

I don’t know, it seems like there are plenty of good rappers out there.
