This song has always been special to me. Some one finally posted it on youtube after all these years. Any Rennaissance or Yardbird fans should know who Illusion is. Illusion was intended to be a reunion of the origional lineup of Rennaissance until Keith Relf died. The new reinvented Rennaissance with the joining of Annie Haslem who is up there with the Steve Perry vocal catagory, maybe better, made the new Rennaissance history. Ashes are burning brightly my friends!!
This song by Illusion called "Beautiful Country" has such powerful lyrics that I been saying for 30 years that it could be England's National Anthem. Their music was classically inspired, intelligent touching lyrics and well polished arrangements. I finally found this song so thought this would be the thread to post it in since has such feeling.
I want my best friends with the sharpest minds in music as well as others to give me your trusted review on this song: 6/3, DoubleH, FlashM, MusicFreak (though you rarely come round anymore), Sax, Mike0421 (I know we share a deep love for Rennaissance) and Square Peg too....give it too me. Lincolnshire you musical genius you will let me know some place else.
Just a few snippets from this beautiful song, tell me this ain't England or Ireland:
Beautiful country, mountians of heaven
The glistening rivers are twisting away
Beautiful givers are summers white kisses
Only for winter we want you to say
Oh I will lay me down on the soft solid ground
Of this England
Beautiful country, meadows of patchwork
You go to my senses, you are part of me
As my mind wanders across your horizon
A sign at the doorway to eternity
oh my gosh!! this is one fantastic song!!!!! I cannot speak of it in terms of musical theory but it is exquisitely beautiful!!!
This is a fabulous gift to this thread. I'm really interested in hearing the views of the song of the people that you listed. You put it in the right thread for sure
If you want a song heard by the majority of the people, this is the thread to put it in!
::bringing candles into library... setting by jade plant on table...
smiles deeply at shyangel who has fallen alseep cradling a book...
...reaching to cover her with a sky blue wrap... tiptoes away...
...head towards the kitchen... heart sings happily...
...collecting bowl, sugar, butter, flour and spices... humming
softly in sweet remembering... sugar cookies for Sir...
recalling delightful times as He reached for one more cookie...
smiling... begin to sift and stir...
This was a gentle and beautiful song. Seems to be pretty relaxing to me. Never heard it before though.
