you can tell real genius when their solution to a problem seems so simple as to make his contemporaries say "why didn't I think of that." Not many electronic engineers and innovators in the music industry (and there are too many to mention like Leo Fender) have 40 Gold records. That's using both sides of your brain.
Anybody who was a true guitar player made music with a Les Paul at some point. There are many musicians who will attend his funeral, I am sure. R.I.P. Mr. Les Paul. You left a great legacy.
Les invented so much as well as play. Incredible man, he promoted the guitar into the forefront of bands-and as they say, the rest is history. We'll miss ya buddy!
Guitar Wizard less Paul died at age 94. I guess I had to expect it one day. Truly the end of the electric guitar era, I saw him play on TV not long ago. Music is one of the only pursuits where a 94 year old man can still be at the top of his game and technically and psychically intimidating to the young upstarts
Most people do not know that and he pioneered the concept of multiple track recordings.
I still remember hearing Beyond the Blue Horizon by Les & Mary. It was very cool! He was a very important person in the history of electric guitar and sound recording. R.I.P., Les.
the crazy thing is he was still playing in his 90's at the Iridium Jazz Club in Manhattan.
