I came home from a company function last night. We took over the whole place and locked out the public. It was attended by many high rollers. Not my idea of a good time. All those snobby nosed azzholes bragging about their money. But I had to go anyway. I figured I would just hide in the corner and drown in my music with a Bloody Cesar drink and some good free food.
Then I saw her. I want to dedicate this song to Alicia. As this great artist James Blunt sings about a moment in time, my moment lasted longer then just a moment. And unlike James Blunts song, my moment was not in a subway but in a crowded bar and she was not with another man. But she sure was an Angel. This song describes my night.
Alisha you reminded me how precious life is and changed me in the 2 short hours we conversed.
This song is for you.
You're beautiful. You're beautiful.
You're beautiful, it's true.
I saw your face in a crowded place,
And I don't know what to do,
'Cause I'll never be with you.
Yeah, she caught my eye,
As we walked on by.
She could see from my face that I was,
Flying high,(clean version)
And I don't think that I'll see her again,
But we shared a moment that will last till the end.
i dedicate this to my father who shared all of the great music he heard as a child in 60s and as a teen in the 70s with me from when I was young till now. He has shaped me so much and taught me so much about sounds and what music really is.He always gave me the background of the song and told me the year and described the artist to me. at night sometimes i'd fall asleep with him as a child and he'd leave the radio on, and I still remember al green, the shondells, aretha, earth, wind and fire, janis, and elton john playing to me before I began to dream. This was always his favorite song.
to my mother who taught me to love the variety of music. One of my earliest memories is falling asleep in her arms and her singing to me.she always had music around. She still loves many different types, spanish,r&b,classic rock, and her new favorite is celtic.

to my sister.who I can sometimes never agree with on anything on except music.
.
You are lucky to have come from a musical family. My parents didn't even own so much as one record and neither did my brothers. I seem to be the only one who inherited that gene and was self taught....I have to say I'm jealous of all you were exposed to by your parents and your sister. Whatever I was exposed to came from aunts and uncles I didn't see that often.
This is for my aunt Suzanne who exposed me the most to various music and one night in a bar the band took a break and let her, her husband and another guy play their instruments and they played Red House by Jimi Hendrix and my jaw just dropped - they nailed it without trying. She played bass, her husband played drums and the other guy played lead and sang. I am forever indebted to them for their musical influence on me and for sharing so many genres of music with me.
