They were mostly ignored in the US but when I was in Europe I heard of The Primitives. Post-punk from the mid to late eighties. Their sound shows up in some of the alternative bands of the 90s.
Skinny Puppy's video for "Dig It" from their 1986 album Mind: The Perpetual Intercourse got little to no rotation because you can see footage from a snuff film in select places.
^ I was stationed in a backwater around the time of that video, but remember Skinny Puppy from college. They didn't get much air play with a lot of their lyrics being somewhat disturbing. Interesting stuff above.
So here's a question for the obscure-minded members of this forum, as it's been something I can't find anywhere. Been wracking my brain.
1983 to 1984, lyrics include "rip it up" in the chorus. Vocals were by a male singer with a somewhat high voice (not falsetto, though). Some pop-rock guitar riffs throughout. Not the Orange Juice version, either. Anyone have any idea what the song is?
Not the one. This was early 1984 when I heard it. Been researching YouTube to see who it was, but can't find it. I was stationed at Tucson at the time and it got a lot of airplay on the one rock station they had then.
