Still don't know what I was
waiting for
The Board was running wild
A million dead-end threads and.....

Every time I thought I'd
Post a quip
My Rep Points
made me quit

So I looked in other States and - -
And I found jerks just like me
Who tried to hijack earnest threads cause
I just couldn't write that free

R-r-r-r-rep points- -
Post a famous song!
R-r-r-rep points - -
Ooh, they must exceed your posts!!
R-r-r-r-rep points!
Don't post mean or long!
R-r-r-rep points
I gotta get the most...

Writing, my friend
Is all in our heads......

I watched my missives erode and choke
and evacuate the places they should have come from the whole time...
Am I just a blog-board Bloke?
Does anonymity accelerate passion's half-life?

and these children who know only this
as we try to stay caught up
Seem immune to dialectic
Or am I just a lame prick?

D-d-d-depth points!
Are there any here?
D-d-d-depth points
Is the bottom rung too clear?

Wri-ting is dead!
But we still have heads!!

I said that wri-ting is dead!
But we still have heads.....

Stanman, since you can also hear the song in your head, are there more lyrics that might give us (or you) a clue?

I can't think of what it could be off the top of my head, but considering how old the song is, I'd probably know if I heard it!

That's just the problem. I think I'm having the same problem the OP is. I can onlr recall snippets, and I don't know how to describe the guitar and keyboard parts. Guitar is like power chords, and the keyboard is a steady eighth note rhythm. Lyrics, I'm a bit sketchy.

(change, change, chaange...)
You're playing a game
playing a game
You're playing a gaaaaaame, yeah...

I'm not really sure if I have the words right, it could be change, or chains. I tried searching on Foreigner, Toto, Boston, Styx, trying to think of other bands in that genre, but I'm drawing a blank.

Maybe it's Change, Change, Change....

Kidding aside, are you sure it has the word change in the lyrics?? I can name a song that almost rhymes with what our OP might be looking for.

See if this helps. If not, then it's back to the drawing board. You'll find it in the last 90 seconds.

That is the one I was thinking of! Thank you, case44! Hopefully that is the one the OP was thinking of, as well. I knew I didn't have the lyrics right, that's why I was reluctant to post them. Maybe I should post that in the "misunderstood lyrics" thread.

Stanman, I was right. I would definitely have known what song it was if I had seen this thread earlier today! Now, is this the correct song?
