I'm going to comment some of your posts later yet right now I want to tell you guys and gals that after I've read all these posts featuring bass riffs I start to believe that Come As You Are by Nirvana was a bass too. What do you think?

Nirvana "Come As You Are" is a guitar riff with a phase shifter or flanger used for the effect! That spinning/twirling/springing sound is created with one. Here are two classic examples!

When played live with one guitar, the bass plays the riff alone for much of the song.

It can often be hard to seperate guitar/bass in songs. One trick is to swing the balance of your speakers right or left to seperate instruments in the mix. Headphones also help too.
Thanks. That did help. I also read somewhere that the main riff is bass.

Btw does Hysteria feature bass or guitar as that main kickass riff that starts approx. from the 30th second?

At precisely :36 in when you hear him hit the drums and the "guitar" kicks in! It is a guitar!

Another classic guitar-bass riffer . . .

Mountain, "Blood of the Sun"

(The YouTuber misidentifies it as a Fillmore performance but this is Mountain's performance of the song at the Woodstock festival . . . )

Not to mention . . .

Mountain, "Mississippi Queen"

Leslie West, "Blind Man" (from the solo album that gave Mountain their name when they decided to band up for real . . . )

It's hard to overestimate your contribution to this thread!

Now I'm pretty sure this one is a bass, isn't it?
