Prince Creek Village is a commercial center proposed for the northwest corner of South Carolina Highway 707 and TPC Boulevard in Murrells Inlet, Horry County, South Carolina. It would be anchored by a 45,600 square feet Publix supermarket, and would have 18,000 additional square feet of commercial space and two outparcels.
Publix's Prince Creek Village store, when officially announced, will be its fourth store in Horry County.
While many of the residents of Prince Creek in Murrells Inlet, would welcome a Publix store, many are also very concerned (and angry) that the main resident entrance to the Prince Creek Community on 707, will be utilized as the truck entrance into the Publix Shopping Center.
The main residential entrance into Prince Creek will also be utilized as an entrance and exit for cars entering and leaving the Shopping Center.
Both of these situations will create an extraordinary traffic burden on the already active Prince Creek entrance, which serves as a entry/exit for over 2500 residences.
In addition, all trucks must exit this site onto 707, with no traffic light regulating their turns North or South onto 707, also not a safe situation.
While it's true that Publix officials have worked with The Bay's HOA of Prince Creek to re-design entry roads inside of Prince Creek into the shopping center, the fact remains that cars & trucks will still be utilizing the main residential entrance of Prince Creek to access the shopping center and that does not seem like the right decision.

I think the whole concept of yet another food store (right across from Lowes Food) is stupid! Publix is our closest food store in Florida. While there is nothing wrong with Publix (except the prices are on the high end), I don't think the chain offers anything better than the Lowes Foods. The addition of a Publix at that location (about 1/2 mile from our home) will not change my food shopping habits.

TPC Boulevard has an outlet to Wilderness Lane, which can take traffic out to Longwood Drive, then to South Carolina Highway 707.
I think truck traffic exiting Prince Creek Village could be improved indeed. South Carolina Highway 707 will have more traffic lanes and additional traffic when its widening is complete. Any traffic signal to an access point on South Carolina Highway 707 would involve access to The Shoppes at Tournament Boulevard.

I have shopped at Publix and Lowe's Foods. Lowe's Foods does not come close to Publix in necessities (food and pharmacy), convenience, quality products and fresh foods, price, and service. Its failure in the Charlotte-Concord-Gastonia, North Carolina-South Carolina Metropolitan Statistical Area and rush to expand into Greenville and Charleston counties questions Lowe's Foods' growth.
Publix is clearly dominant in Florida. Winn-Dixie was competition until it self imploded, closed stores, and increased its prices.
Thanks for your reply I was looking at a house that borders vacant land which is on the main road
