The flooding situation affected us too when we made our way from Sarasota, FL to Myrtle Beach last Tues, Oct 6. Unfortunately AAA motor club was of little help. They said their main office wasn't giving them info on road closures. We basically felt we were on our own to navigate our way safely. When we arrived at the SC Welcome Center at the border, we were told that virually every street around Myrtle Beach had been blocked at some point, including I17, both business and bypass, as well as alternate 17. The condition of a few other cross roads that might have helped us, were not known about. They weren't sure if rte 26 south was open all the way. Since I95No was closed, we were advised to take 26N to Columbia, then rte 77 around Columbia, then 20W to Florence, continue to Latta and then take 501 South, through Conway to Myrtle Beach. What is a long trip to begin with became a little longer, but thankfully, we arrived safely in Myrtle Beach. We did not experience any flooding along that route. Saw remnants of flooding on the sides of 501 but travelling was fine. Calling SC511 and using Waze was helpful. However, a good map in hand was a must to identify the closures on the SC511 tape. I don't know when I95No finally opened. Would be interested in knowing if someone knows. One thing for sure, this experience made me realize more how much we depend on our highway system and how good it is. But when "mother nature" intervenes, you've got to have a plan B.

Drove down Sunday and returned yesterday. Going down was fine...no roads closed on 17 or 95. Coming home, entering SC there was a sign "all roads on I-95 are open". Hope this helps!
