I am wondering how the local economy is down there as well as the medical area? We would like to be near the beach, most likely Myrtle Beach. To give you a something to compare to, I am about an hour from Boston where we have some of the top hospitals, and my husband works as a truck driver and makes about $65,000 a year. Also, we have three children, so good schools are very important. Thanks for any advice!

Wages will be totally different down here. I can warn you about that in advance. We do have really good schools here and good physicians.

The economy is slow as in most areas construction has slowed to a crawl, other things still limping along(service industry etc). The medical fields seem to be doing okay Conway Hospital and Grand Strand are always looking for people. Big pay for drivers down here is between 40-45K, you will work some 60hr weeks to get that, no major trucking companies at the beach so lower wages. The schools in Loris and Carolina Forest are are pretty good from what I have heard, no first hand experience with them though. Hope this helps, feel free to DM with anything specific
