Again, the reference was to pediatric cancer. Asbestos exposure gives you cancer many years later.

That is a wonderful price range! I am moving down there, as primarily a former European citizen. Not sure how i'll fare down there as far as residency goes, but hey...it's a great mix down there. Anyone that doesn't accept, in my opinion, is an unevolved, non-worldly idiot, who needs to get with the times. : D My primary languages are Serbian, Slovakian, and then Serbo/Croatian/Macedonian/Bosnian with slight differences and then...afterwards........ well, I hate to admit it but...yeah... English from Jersey. JUST SAYING!! Bc I know how 'we' are treated down there. Potentially.

That said, to be honest with you....North Naples is my favorite spot, but right now as I am doing my own home searches, around that price range and lower because I admit, I am cheap and want to invest in other land/material goods (you only live once), and i don't believe that what you get in Naples for your money is really worth it for what you are paying, for quite a bit of anything.....UNLESS you consider close proximity to one of the most gorgeous towns in the US worth it.

Vanderbilt beach alone to me, is stunning. To each their own.

I however, am finding homes everywhere. From out in the boonies, Ave Maria, North Naples, Urban Estates, Lely, Central Naples, etc.

I don't consider North Naples to be the 'best,' whatsoever, but school systems are wonderful, from what I hear.

This is a very basic response, as I really skimmed through this..joined today, and am enjoying reading what you are all posting.

Tired and going back to sleep now. Battling a cold in the middle of summer!!

Hope I responded reasonably, and it was not ....erh... a waste of a read. :-/

I love Naples. I actually teared up a bit, because I had family in St. Pete that passed a few years ago and I never came down to see them. Last time I was in St. Pete was 97. Just ..personal obligations and business in the way.

When I came back,..I was stunned at the differences and would never consider moving there now.

Naples, for now, is a terrific area, and I am reasonably irritated at anyone who keeps calling Naples a retirement town. With the new schools being mapped out, to the families I see quite often when I visit Naples,...it is changing and evolving with time as any place would.

I'm sick and tired of it being called a 'retirement' town that only caters to the nearly dead.

That needs to stop.

It is paradise. For me. ENJOY!!!!!
