We are looking in Naples and wondering what area would be the best to look in for a home/condo/etc.,? Basically which part would you consider the best neighborhood and area of Naples?

Thanks!

Hi Kela! My name is Emma and I was born and raised in Naples. I have since moved to north florida, but my parents still live there. It is one of the most beautiful places on earth and I think you will love it there. I would recommed North Naples. Do you have kids? I grew up in Victoria Park, which is a GREAT family neighborhood. It is convienient to everything. I am so sad that my parents are selling our house, but they are retired and ready to move into something smaller. I wish you the best of luck with your move!

We own a condo not far from Lely. NOBODY wants to live in South Naples, with the exception of Marco, maybe.

So is South Naples now seen as a Getto for Crime and Shootings? So avoid South Naples then? Aim for North Naples or better still Bonita Springs?

Reading with interest being British and planning to buy and live in Florida South West Coast (for retirement Snowbird). Or would I be better to look elsewhere like Venice or East Coast Florida?

Ghetto-absolutely not. There are pockets of south Naples you should avoid-Naples Manor and most developments off Bayshore Drive except Windstar.

Lely and Lely Resort are fine. Lely Resort is newer and has several gated communities within it.

Lely is older and has different types of housing/sections but I don't think any of it is gated.

Default No ghetto in Naples!

No purpleash22, Naples is FAR from being a ghetto. There is nothing "ghetto" about it. Parts of Naples that are south of Highway 41 & east of Airport/Pulling are lower-income than the mansions in the official City of Naples. But they are nothing like a ghetto in New York or Miami.

Some of the areas south of Hwy 41 have mobile-homes instead of concrete-block subdivisions. It's preferable to live in a concrete-block structure rather than a mobile-home or wood-frame home. BUT the closer you live to the ocean, the higher your home-owners insurance will be.

But it is hugely unfair to classify ANY part of Naples as a ghetto. There is certainly no fear of random murder or mugging such as what exists in gang cities like Miami or New York or Detroit. Naples is paradise.

Wait, I'm paying more for insurance in the estates than the guy on Gulfshore?

I beg to differ..... Much of Golden Gate City, East Naples,, River park etc., while not the South Bronx or Liberty City, would be considered by most folks to be somewhat "ghetto".

That depends on your definition of Paradise, I guess.

Naples is a certainly a nice place, but after 25+ years here, I am over it.....

No-where is really ghetto in Naples.. Yes parts are lower income, such as Naples Manor, a very small spot round the back of Lake Park, some parts just off Airport Pulling, some of East Naples, but for most part, Naples is gorgeous, and much nicer than Venice or the East Coast. Of course there are nice places in Venice and the East Coast, but the run down areas are much more than in Naples, and the nicer areas are much less.
