I like Courtney's idea of a hurricane party. My darker side finds that quite appealing. But, back to the storm, the coverage allowed me to know exactly when to go outside, brace myself, and hold on for life and limb while soaking up nature's absolute wrath. Darn exhilarating, I tell you. (note: I wasn't vying for an America's Funniest Home Video so I put myself in no direct danger, but daaaang, that was fun).
And I am really sorry for those who suffered in the winds.
Tornados...we prefer hurricanes (although tornados do get embedded sometimes). The house where my husband is staying in East Nashville was evidently only a couple of streets from where a tornado touched down! I think if we move there it will be something with a basement . Nothing scares us more than tornadoes and I only recently realized how much they're a concern in Nashville...

*shudder* I was in Houston the week Hurricane Rita arrived on the heels of Katrina. Our hotel manager tried to get rid of us almost as quickly as we checked in; the mayor ordered hotels to prepare to evacuate early in the week (Rita arrived on land Thursday night or Friday, if I remember correctly). What a frightening event.
How do I find a house with a basement when we move to the Murfreesboro area?
Ask. lol
In general, neighborhoods with more hilly terrain are more likely to have houses with a basement or den that is at least partially underground.
