In early July, I got stuck in the Nashville I-24 construction while driving from Clarksville to Chattanooga on my way to Florida.
In a few weeks I'll be heading back north and wish to find an alternative route thru/around Nashville. I'll be heading into Nashville on I-24 from Chattanooga destined for Clarksville.
I'll be hitting Nashville about 6:00 - 7:00am on a Saturday.
Any suggestions?

at the junction of I-24 and I-40, head east toward the airport and take Briley Parkway North. Might be a sign for Opryland on that exit. You will drive east on 40 for maybe 2 miles. Take Briley Parkway and you will connect with I-24 on the other side of downtown.

Get off of I-24 and go East on 40. From 40, take Briley Parkway North, go up past Opryland and keep going.
You will eventually hook up with I-24 on the Northwest side of town.

Some might recommend taking 40 into the downtown area, and go around the South side of that area, but it's been pretty congested with the construction. Briley Pkwy is clear sailing.

Be on the lookout for radar on Briley. The State police have been very active lately.

Briley Pkwy.

As you get into town, take 40 EAST at the 24/40 junction (exit 52A towards Knoxville). Move to the second-to-right hand lane, and take Briley Pkwy NORTH (exit 215B). Travel approximately 12 miles around the loop to 24 and take exit 18A, I-24 west towards Clarksville.

Mileage-wise, it's a pretty decent detour, but traffic shouldn't be a problem at all.

Safe travels.

That time of the morning you shouldn't see much traffic, if any at all.

You'd be surprised how much traffic is out there. Lots of truck traffic that would normally be on 24, families on vacation getting an early start. The State Police have had a field day out there this summer. Lots of revenue.

If state police are having a field day that means that people are driving over the speed limit, which means that it's not backed up, only busy.

I came through Southbound on Sunday after the 4th of July. It was 2PM and I had a 30 minute delay. It wasn't that awful.

The end of August, only 2 more weekends to go.

Closed next weekend, then the final closure will be the weekend of the 25th. They're going to leave it open the weekend of the 11th for East Nashville's Tomato Art Fest.

People always drive fast on Briley. They just zoom out there.
