Default Wildhorse Saloon - good for music or just fried pickles?

Every once in a while I read about a band I'd like to see (or maybe even just one person like Rick Springfield, yeah, I know) who is appearing at the Wildhorse. I had Fried Pickles there once. There was a house band and free line dancing lessons.

Has anyone been there for a concert? Wondering about the acoustics? Do they leave the dance floor? The concerts there are often more expensive than cheap seats at the Ryman . . . but it is a much smaller venue.

Any thoughts???

When I went to a concert there, the dance floor was jam-packed with long tables, and the performer stayed up on the stage.

People arrived early and ordered dinner off the menu, and then stayed seated at the tables. I didn't like the claustrophobic feeling of being locked into my seat looking sideways at the stage, but I loved the performer so I managed.

I have no idea if this is how they set up every show. I thought it was fine as a venue, though. You aren't as far away as some seats at the Ryman, and the chairs were WAY more comfy than the Ryman pews so that's a plus.

I went to the Wildhorse a month ago to see Darius Rucker play for the St. Jude benefit concert. Pretty intimate venue and the food was pretty good. Acoustics seemed fine, much better than when I saw him at Municipal Auditorium in February.

They had tables lined up all over the first floor, if you search for seating charts for the Wildhorse you'll see various configurations. I think the experience will definitely depend on where you sit. The main center section is full of tables at the normal height, we were fortunate to have the first table in the back corner that was elevated, so we could see fine over everybody in the middle. It did appear somewhat cramped in there. Only other thing is unless you buy all the tickets for your table expect to share it with another party.
