I wish my parents would have given me enough money and supported my moving at 18. Just for the record please consider your age. You might have many changes left. You might not even be the same person in 3 years that you are now because your still a child. Moving across the country before you have even fully matured doesn't sound like a good idea.

I think it depends on your line of work as to whether people are church going or not. Younger and artsy might not be so much. I work in an office and people talk about running into their friends at church all the time. Also they talk about private schools and their kids' soccer teams. It took me a while to figure out why the office cleared out at 5pm on the dot on Wednesdays. Because everyone goes to Bible study (I'm Catholic. I don't do bible study). LOL

I find people are friendly - winters are wonderful - summers are oppressively hot and humid and so therefore I don't garden like I used to up north - the drivers are insane - the cost of living is much better - it is getting more and more trendy and you're finding more and more things than before (just opened a Nordstrom and the Opry Mills mall is fabulous) - not a lot of museum choices like there would be in NY - so it's a toss up
