We are a military family and will be moving to Fort Campbell early this summer. We have decided we would like to live in the Clarksville area and will be purchasing a home. We are looking for a nice area with safe, affordable housing and a good high school. Are there any thoughts on neighborhoods or areas? Our budget is relatively flexible and the school is the TOP priority, as of now. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The best schools, from the communities standpoint would be Sango, Carmel for your grade schools, and Rossview for your middle and highschoolers. Thats on the SE side of town. You'll see a lot of adds proclaiming "Rossview" or "Sango" school districts.

I have a 6 bedroom, 3 bath house for just over 200K. I'm not sure what your price range is. There are other houses for 150 or so in my neighborhood, just smaller houses. Most folks don't want to live around Ft. Campbell or in Oak Grove. Most folks want to live along I-24 somewhere off of exit 8 or exit 11. Those are the better neighborhoods, more expensive, but have the best schools. I've heard that Montgomery Central isn't a bad highschool either.

Everyone wants a nice area, with safe, affordable housing and good schools. But to match all of those things together, well, doesn't always work.

I second the Rossview/Sango area but also add in East Montgomery. Personally, I dont care for the Montgomery Central area its more of a good ol' boys area. I grew up in Clarksville and if we were to ever get orders back to the area, we would move to the area's mentioned above. If you have any questions about any roads or anything in that area, let me know. If I cant answer them, I have friends who children go to these schools and live in these areas that would be more than happy to help also.

ETA: If you move to these areas, plan on at least a 30 commute to post. Then again getting anywhere is at least a 15 min commute

Oh, thank you so much! Your reply has been super helpful! I may definitely be asking you more questions. We think we have settled on the Rossview High School district. Would it be fair to say that will be about a 30 minute commute to Fort Campbell?

I would say that its about a 30 min commute. We are planning a trip home here in a couple of weeks and I am looking forward to it.

Well that depends. Lol.

I live really close to I24. I can be at FT Campbell in 15 minutes. Traffic can cause a problem.

Its not a long distance drive any way, but you can count on a 15 - 30 minute commute any way you go. Depending on traffic, and time of day.
