My husband and I are interested in relocating to TN. We currently live in Northern Ohio however I am from Austin, Texas and would really like to get away from Ohio winter. We are both elementary teachers. There are several job postings for teachers in Clarksville. Is the job market for teachers extremely competitive there? Are there a lot of postings because the area is growing rapidly or for another reason? What areas/schools are considered the best? We would like to live in a rural area. Any help/advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Clarksville is rapidly expanding, due to more & more soldiers being stationed at Ft Campbell. I'm not a teacher, and am not familiar with all the new schools. The ones that have been around for a while are Rossview, Clarksville High, NE, NW, Kenwood & Montgomery Central.

You would probably have better luck getting on with one of the newer schools that has opened up. Just a warning, I hear that teachers make horrible pay here.

As far as living in a rural area, it depends on what area you would work in. If you worked at Mont Central, you would ideally want to live in Cunningham, Palmyra or Southside. Those are all rural areas. If you venture a little bit across the bridge into Clarksville proper, there are some very nice neighborhoods with older houses that are very well maintained across from the Marina. The Sango area is another part of Clarksville that is rapidly growing but still has many rural areas to it. I would look to those sides of town.

Good luck & hope you enjoy it here. Get used to crazy weather. It's been colder this month than it was all winter!
