Hi!

My husband just accepted a job offer in Portland TN. Now I have been looking in surrounding areas and I have a few questions to ask.

We will be renting for a bit, 6 months to a year. We are middle aged, and are looking for an apartment or townhouse complex. I am an office worker and will probably have the best luck looking for work in Nashville so I want to pick something in the middle travel wise.

I have looked in Hendersonville and Gallatin for rentals, but I need more areas to hunt and maybe if any of you are familiar with any property that may have possibilities. I appreciate any and all suggestions.

I also apologize if this is in a thread I that I did not look at already.

Thank you!

Sandy

Thank you for responding. Most of the townhomes I have looked at are in that general area. I was just thinking that there may be another area I have not seen listed here, and on the general map of the area.

Again, thank you!

Have you looked at Goodlettsville? It's a good middle ground between Nashville and Portland...right on I-65. Pretty nice area, lots of dining/shopping there. Well kept up area. Most of the larger rental complexes (apartments and townhomes) are going to be in the Davidson County side of Goodlettsville which shouldn't really be a problem unless you still have kids in school. Check out the area on Conference Drive...you'll find a couple of apartment complexes there that look really nice (Northcreek Commons, Lenox) and a very large condo/townhome complex nearby in Windsor Green. You'll find many more rentals too, but this is a good place to start.

You might also look to the north in Millersville (again, just off of I-65). There aren't as many rental choices there...probably more rental homes than apartments/condos, but it's a little more quiet and semi-rural than Goodlettsville...which might make it a little cheaper too. Still very driveable to Nashville and Portland.

Finally, check out White House as well. Again to the north of Nashville in Sumner County. Should be a good common ground area commute wise for both of you as well.

I agree for what you have mentioned and to have the most choices the Goodlettsville/Rivergate area would serve you well. Everything you would want is in this area and you will have to travel from Portland to get to this area. It is the only mall in the North of the county and countless restaurants, apartments, condos, etc.

Depending on where you worked downtown it would be about a 30 minute commute to Portland and Downtown so a good compromise with lots of stuff. Just check out the area you choose. Its not a bad area but there are higher end parts as well.

White House is a great area but very close to Portland. You would have a 45 minute commute downtown on a regular traffic day (which there are few) and he would have maybe a 20 minute with zero traffic.

Default Thank all of you for your advise

We relocated to Hendersonville this month and I must say I love it here. My husband ended up with a second job offer located in Nashville, which is the one he ended up accepting. I just got a position in Nashville, not downtown but to the east of it. So we will both have some traveling to do but my husband likes the area and I don't see us moving any closer to Nashville.

Again, thank you all. You have been very helpful.
