Monell's Dining & Catering comes in at No. 41, ranking it higher than any other restaurant in the Southeast.

For the first time, Yelp has released its own list of the 100 best places to eat in America, based on reviews from millions of diners who use the site. To arrive at the rankings, Yelp’s data mining engineers looked at both the average star rating for each restaurant and the total number of reviews it received. The resulting list is a delightfully unsnooty antidote to the Michelin Guide.

Have to say I'm a little surprised. I figured City House or some other well-thought of establishment would have been ranked higher on Yelp. But that's cool, I love Monell's.

More like a popularity contest. I've been to 7 of them, across the US and most aren't "best", just popular.

I trust the people of Yelp about as much as I trust the people of twitter.

Monell's is fine, but isn't even one of the top places I would recommend in Nashville. Probably at least 20-25 ahead of it, if not more.

love Monell's.....outstanding food.....not sure its top 100 in the US, or even top in Nashville, but Yelp's ranking system isn't exactly scientific

That's what happens when we poll the commoners.

Having said that, there's nothing wrong with judging a restaurant based on how well it satisfies its customers and how good it is at being what it purports to be. That's a different grading scale than "finest" but it has value.

I'v eaten a lot of fried chicken in my life, and Monell's takes the prize. And you can tell from the size of the pieces that the chicken isn't shot full of hormones with breasts that would put Dolly to shame...
