Potential job in nashville, questions about apartments etc (Murfreesboro, Lebanon: real estate, rent)

i have very strong possibility of job in Nashville, VERY well paid (ALOT more than I'm being paid now) and downtown. its near the river and us 41 (prefer to keep job details to myself for now)

I know rent is a bit high because Nashville is the "IT" city right now (GO NASHVILLE!) So I'm needing advice or suggestions on places to live close to work. Safe first, price next. (and any other advice you can think of )

I will be renting. prefer something in the general region of work. I am perfectly happy with a studio or efficiency and see those can be $1000-1100 especially downtown. I'm good between 800-1200 altho cheaper is better. My experience is that if its very much lower than that in a metropolitan area that the area is probably not very safe or its a bit of a drive.

I am in my 50's, female, No Children, No pets (for the moment but one day I definitely want a dog again one day) I also do not have a car right now although I will definitely be getting at least an older reliable vehicle preferably a van that is in good mechanical condition

i've already been reading thru the other "moving to nashville threads" at least recent ones on first page. I have grabbed the crime, location links. i see nashville isn't exactly a 'walking' city but I do have an older bicycle.

does anyone know anything about the apartments called 'the sycamores'? i see that south east of downtown is higher crime so does that qualify? I saw the stahlman they have a studio but no vacancies anytime in the next few months.

Route 41 runs parallel with the river throughout the city. Can you give us a zip code?

the sycamores - No way would I live there. I'm also single female and relocated here.

You need to stick to downtown, germantow, Rolling Mill Hill or the Gulch if you want anything close to walkable. And you're going to have to pay more than $1200/mo. To get something in your price range you will need to go out to the suburbs. But then you'll need to add back gas/car costs.

The area around Mount Olivet, etc. is fairly quiet.

N. Cal thanks so much for the reply on sycamores, I did some reading on apartment ratings and they were consistently pretty bad but i always like to get feedback from someone directly too as opposed to just website reviews. I'll make a note of the areas you mentioned.

I saw the stahlman has studios i think for $1000 to 1100 but no vacancies right now.

I would expand your search to the Midtown/Music Row/West End areas in addition to the areas mentioned previously. You'll be able to bike on a nice day from any of those locales, and there is good public transit in those areas toward downtown. You could get to/from work and never drive a car. Those areas are all walkable.
