My wife and I have decided to buy and will be moving soon to Nashville. We really like East Nashville and ultimately want to end up there. Reasons behind it are that we are in our mid 20's and enjoy going out to eat (we are big foodies) and going out to do things. The suburbs seam to be different than Dallas, TX where everything you could ever need or want to do is in your city. Here it seams like everything except for boring national chain restaurant's and maybe a few theatres are downtown (Franklin being the exception). So we want to be close to the action and Franklin is too far from my work. If East Nashville doesn't work out where should we look? I don't like Bellevue, Hendersonville, or Mt Juliet as they are too far away from downtown. We need to be able to drive to most places downtown within 10-15 minutes max! I will be working in the Hermitage area. But I can deal with a longer commute. Our budget is tops $225,000 and houses are going within 24-48 hours in our price range in East Nashville. We are ok with single family or townhomes (no condo's). So, please give us some suggestion of nice areas with in our price range outside of East Nashville?

Well...the next closest places would be Donelson and Madison. Both would be easy commutes to your job (I think you said it was near the airport). Madison has never been thought of as hip or cool. However....I think there is starting to be some spillover from East Nashville across Briley. There are some nice neighborhoods off Graycroft (which is just an extension of Ellington Parkway)in Madison. Donelson has become more popular too (because of people being priced out of other areas).

Those are 2 areas I would research.

Good Luck...I would hate to be trying to buy a house in Nashville right now....but in the long run I think it would be a good investment. Just be prepared to act when you find a decent deal.

I would look at Donelson. Madison, not so much.

If you don't want to live in Mt. Juliet or any other suburb that's totally fine, but the west side of Mt. Juliet and Hermitage border each other. It's the older and more affordable area of the town. Most people associate MJ with the newer Providence area near I-40 which feels more suburban. The western area of Mt. Juliet just kind of feels like Hermitage. Also, if you're looking in Donelson why not just look in Hermitage?
