Columbia is a fairly large town. They have an annual Mule Day celebration complete with food, parade, and fun. As a former driver for medical transportation, I went to Columbia quite often. Found it very easy to get turned around in (lost, but I don't get lost - hahaha) Columbia. It has all the stores and restaurants, hospitals and doctors, city life as well as beautiful country atmosphere. It is a growing community, but not really at a rapid pace. People are friendly and helpful. Plenty of churches to choose from, and I've heard that the schools are pretty good, but that is what I have been told I don't know that one for a fact. Murfreesboro, Franklin, Smyrna, Lavergne, these cities are growing at an abundant rate!!! and all are very close to Nashville. Good luck, and welcome to TN!!!

Hi I am new to the forum, we have been wanting to move to Tennessee and I found this forum, I currently worked for Publix here in Florida and want to relocate to Franklin /Smyrna area. Can anyone tell me if this is really close to Nashville or a more country setting? I really want to get back to a more rural setting. Out of my element in Florida.

Well there are alot of good suburbs around Nashville.. If you want affordable homes close to shopping and the airport try Antioch. If you want upscale communities try Brentwood or Franklin. I've been to Columbia twice and I think its a great place to live..The people were polite and nice. Not to mention Columbia is growing at a pretty reasonable rate because its so close to Spring Hill which estamites state has nearly doubled in population in the last 5 years. Look for a home in the south parts of Davidson county or Williamson, Maury, Rutherford and Wilson counties.
