For a rental for two months? I would pay up to $1600/month or more if the location was great and house was pretty near perfect.

Be careful if you look on Craigslist. We were in your exact situation, but then bought a home sight unseen. We will be moving in a few weeks. Anyhow, I replied to a few advertisements on Craigslist and they were clearly a scam, but others might not think it so clear. Also, I found that most places were not dog friendly. Wish I had known about Realtracs when I was going through this a few weeks ago, but things turned-out well.

You may just have to go the AirBnB route.
Some municipalities limit rentals. Here in Brentwood rentals are required to be a minimum of three months.

You could try reaching out to the realtor on a listing and asking if the owner would consider renting for a shorter time. We always advertised for a year, but we would occasionally accept a renter for a shorter period of time if the timing worked for us. We wouldn’t have done a month to month, but may have accepted something less than a year.
