What are the best family friendly restaurants around, not in, Nashville? I'm looking for a restaurant just outside of Nashville -- something that could accommodate a potentially fussy baby. Thanks!

how old is the baby? my kids were always fine to take out until about 8 mos, before then they would usually sleep while we ate.

my toddlers like Calypso, McDougals, Pie in the Sky, etc type places.

Ummmm, if you've got a "fussy" baby, you're probably better off eating at home. If you walked up to any random person on the street and asked what his or her #1 pet peeve is when eating out, that would be it.

If you insist on eating out, try Hooters. Hopefully the eye candy will keep your kid happy and not crying or screaming.

Here's some revised advice:

Find out which restaurant jbmill3 or Five Faces will be eating at on the night you want to go out, go there, and request a table next to them. That way you know you'll be sitting by someone who doesn't seem to mind a screaming (or "fussy") baby at the table next to them.

You can be kind of an ass, Pimpy, but this isn't a bad idea, really. I wonder why no restaurants do this? Twenty years ago, every restaurant in the country had a "smoking" section--what if instead they had a "family" section, where they put all the families with small kids. That way they wouldn't have to worry so much about irritating the diners at the next table, and people who dislike sitting around kids could eat in peace. (And adults without kids could sit in teh family section too, obviously, if there were empty tables and they didn't mind being around kids. Just like you could formerly sometimes get a table more quickly if you were willing to sit in the "smoking" section.)

This would be my new favorite restaurant. There's little worse than a screaming baby when you're trying enjoy a meal.
