You will love traffic from those two spots compared to L.A. its just way less people. Franklin being the further of the two is still just 30mins. away. If it rains act as if it snowed and give yourself a little more drive time.

If the traffic is much lighter than I am used to here in LA, maybe I wouldn't mind. Right now. my 15 mile commute takes me about 1 hour.
If you're looking at Brentwood and Franklin, you might want to consider looking at Mt. Juliet too, particularly the Providence development just off South Mt. Juliet Rd. behind the Providence Marketplace. Mt. Juliet does the whole "good schools" thing too (which we all know means aggregate standardized test scores). And the rush hour commute on I40 is easily better than the rush hour commute on I65, in both distance and traffic volume. The outdoor recreational opportunities are far better in the vicinity of Mt. Juliet than in the vicinity of Franklin. In other words, there's better access to amenities for weekend bike rides, hikes, and kayaking or canoeing with the kids.

If you ultimately want to stay fairly close to Music Row no matter what, then never mind.

Mt. Juliet is nice, no doubt. I would only add that I work with someone who lives in Mt. Juliet, and we work on The Row. My drive is always shorter than his.

Not your only consideration, I know, just chiming in.

Good luck!

Are you in Franklin, or more towards Brentwood, particularly the northern side? Commuting to Music Row from the Radnor Lake area is definitely shorter than from Mt. Juliet.

The drive from Williamson to Nashville can be broken down into 3 parts: first - getting from your house to the freeway, second - driving on the freeway, and last - from freeway exist to your final destination in the city. Depending on where exactly is your starting point and destination - the breakdown of driving time can be: first part - 5-20 minutes, second-part 15-25, third part 5-15 minutes. So overall the range is 25 - 60 (!) minutes, and in most cases it will be 30-45 minutes.
