What is the job market like for Nursing Assistants in/near Nashville?
How much does the Average decent 3 bdr place go for?

I'm a single mom of a 10 & ll yr old boy and girl. Looking for a nice quiet, affordable, kid friendly area of Nashville. Don't need lots of bells and whistles but need to be close to grocery stores, libraries, shops, laundry mats etc.

We fit well in the diverse kinda laid back crowd. Artsty type areas would appeal to my family.

Thanks so much!

The best fit would probably be the West End area. There are a number of hospitals in the area (Vanderbilt, Vanderbilt Children's, Centennial, Baptist, St. Thomas--all large, well-respected hospitals). There are also a number of places for seniors in the area which might have a need for a nursing assistant. The midtown (West End) area is also a little artsy and somewhat diverse.

The big drawback might be the cost of a 3 BR place in the area since it's a little on the pricey side. Still, it would probably be worth your time to check it out. If your children were high school age, then we need to talk more about the Nashville public high schools; the elementary and middle schools tend to be okay, but some of the high schools have problems (typical to most urban areas). However, if you're going to be renting, then this wouldn't be an issue you would have to deal with right away, and by the time your children got old enough to go to high school you would know the area better and could make an informed decision yourself.

Another option might be Franklin in Williamson County, just south of Nashville. It's not quite as diverse, but it has a nice downtown area (with arts and antiques stores, and that type of thing), and would be a nice place to raise a family. The school issues might be easier to deal with in Franklin as well.

Thanks Alleycat!
Sounds good. I'm browsing & pricing places but you know that the ones shown online are almost always on the high end. What names should I look for when browsing the West end area? What bracket is considered pricey ? ;-)

Which parts of the Detroit metro did you like? I can try to pinpoint neighborhoods in Nashville that will somewhat comparable. I went to UM and worked in Detroit so I'm fairly familiar with the Detroit metro.
