Murfreesboro is a quick half-hour down 840 highway with little traffic. Thompsons Station area is, in my opinion, very progressive. We have lots of Northern transplants. Franklin is, again, full of progressive folks. Williamson county which encompasses both of these is known for their education programs and schools.

An update!
We bought a home in Franklin. We have been here a couple of weeks and we are extremely happy!! I was cynical honestly, but it has been an excellent move for us. Dh's commute to Murfreesboro is somewhat long in minutes ( but uncongested)-- that's the only drawback! Our neighbors and virtually everyone we have encountered are incredibly nice and welcoming. Furthermore, there are loads of transplants so it's easy to jump and make friends easily.

Franklin is a very pleasant town, congratulations! Most of that area is just really pretty in general.

Nashville is about 45 minutes from Murfreesboro. That's with cooperative traffic. It can be over an hour if there is gridlock in traffic. I, personally, wouldn't commute daily from Nashville to Murfreesboro if I could help it.

Sure thing. The area I was thinking of is south of E Main St, just past Middle TN Blvd. Just south of MTSU. Tyne Ave, Castle St, Baird Ln...that area is what I was thinking about. I'm sure there are other "professor" enclaves too around town.

Very true, jenn. I'm a liberal and a Christian and have loads of conservative friends. We all get along...well most of the time.
1000 reps...but I'm not allowed to rep you.

I'm starting to wonder if I'm allowed to rep anyone.
