I saw that on tv last night. Thought it was cute till I heard the reason for the ride. Definitely a one of a kind picture.

That looks to be a Western European Weasel--scientific name, Mustela rodeo.

Yes, the wood pecker landed and the filming distracted the weasel - bird got away safely.

Nothing like as spectacular, but I saw a kestrel catch a sparrow a couple of feet above the ground in the field next to the house. It then pinned it to the ground and I let out a gasp as I watched all this.

The kestrel looked up to see what had made the noise and at that moment the sparrow escaped. The kestrel was about twenty yards away and gave me a really evil look!

This is the luckiest shot I've taken so far;
