Hey,

We are from SC and built our home we are living in now. Love our house and neighborhood so much. We are having to relocate to the council bluffs area for my husbands new job. I have been looking for hours and the houses there are expensive and not modern at all. So I thought maybe we could just build again? If you have any insite on builders in the area or nice new neighborhoods coming available please let me know. Thank you.

Where are you looking? It's not at all hard to find a nice house in Council Bluffs for under $100,000. What do you mean what you say "modern" homes, as that can mean different things to different people.

Personally speaking, I would never want a "newer" home. Old homes are...almost without exception...built to much higher standards and with better materials. Most home builders these days are the type to throw up houses as quickly and cheaply as possible. Not my sort of thing.

Good question. I like white trim, open floor plans, and granit or comparable countertops. That's mostly what I mean. If you have areas we should look at I would be grateful to hear. I'm in SC and house hunting from this far away is hard.

Try using zillow to view many homes, locations and prices. This should give you a good idea of just what's out there and where they're at. If you know the address location of new job you might even find something close to it and save driving time. I'm not familiar with good or bad locations and neighborhoods but someone else might be able to add to the thread with that information.

Click on the zillow map to keep enlarging it and it will show many areas and neighborhoods with more detail.

You do realize Council Bluffs is in Iowa, other side of the river.

Yes I do. I originally posted this in the Iowa one. However someone told me that because Council Bluffs is right next to Omaha that posting it in the Omaha area would probably give me more people who knew the area.
