Unless you love an extreme climate -- cold in the winter, hot in the summer, and *extremely windy* 80% of the time, averaged out over a whole year, *don't move here.* You will be sadly disappointed.

I am going on four years here. I have hated every minute of it, mostly due to the extreme climate -- cold or hot, and very windy, with *flying dust everywhere* almost all of the time.

Pahrump gets about eight weeks of nice weather out of the whole year -- four weeks or so in the spring, and four weeks or so in the autumn. The other 44 weeks or so out of the year are awful. Windy. Repeat after me, *windy*. Don't move here unless you *love* high wind and flying dust.

I am applying for jobs all over the country, except for southern Nevada, because I *can't wait to leave this Hell on Earth that is Pahrump.*

And don't post replies chastising me as being a miserable, unhappy human being or something else along those lines. Quite the contrary, I'm a happy-go-lucky guy. I'm just saying that I should have completed much more due diligence on Pahrump than I did before moving here. Before you move here, I implore you to perform complete due diligence on Pahrump's climate, job market, housing market, public schools, etc. -- whatever facets of life are important to you. You'll be thankful that you did.

I just do not understand why you live in Pahrump when Vegas is an hour away.

Welcome to life in the Mojave... If you didn't want to live in the desert, why did you move here?

The climate doesn't seem to be that much different than other parts of the desert southwest which are at the elevation of Pahrump. I've found many parts of the desert very windy and dusty. And, yes, I agree that the winter nights are cold in the desert when you're up around 2,700 feet.

Any luck finding a way out, Dennis?

There must be 50 ways to leave your Pahrump
Just get in the car.... etc.

I think Pahrump would be a great place, Jeep and hike Death Valley in the winter, hike and climb on Mt. Charleston in the summer, a cathouse downtown, what more could a young man want?

Well.. ya know.. after reading your posts.. it seems from day one you hated it here. Then again someone like you who is used to 60 degrees all the time in San Francisco, would hate it here.. Me, I will put up with the heat and cold rather than live in San Fran lol. I moved here from Monterey, we love Pahrump.. yes its hot but we have a nice winter as well instead of a boring 60 degrees every single day.

I just don't see your point of posting a thread every year since 2006 about how much you hate Pahrump.. lol if its so horrible for you.. get off the computer and get to packing.

After reading all your posts I think I will submit a new slogan for Pahrump "Pahrump Nevada, Californians will HATE It here" hahaah

we are considering pahrump too, I have heard all kinds of stories on the nuclear testing that was done there before and we are conserned with the quality of soil and water. Can you grow a garden there? and how hot does it get in the summer for example what was your hottest day last summer and what is the night temp in the summer.

Pahrump is well up wind from the test site, no problems, the cancer clusters, dead sheep etc were downwind, that is, off in Caliente and Utah, and of course, killed John Wayne.

You can grow a garden anywhere, as long as it is above 50 degrees, no worries, quality of water? I cannot answer that.
