Hi all I'm looking to move to NH soon and I came across a few homes in Peterborough in Hillsborough County.......can anyone advise me in regards to this town..... good ? bad ? how are the schools and the neighborhood?
Peterborough has the MacDowell art colony, regional hospital, good schools, but astronomical property taxes. COL is quite high for being removed from a larger population center with more services. Beware of the hidden "view tax" that is tacked on to the property tax bill- particularly if it has a view of Mt. Monadnock or lake/pond frontage.
Peterborough has been an outpost of old money for a century or more. The propery values and prices reflect this. If you can afford it Peterborough is one on New Hampshire's gems.
I lived there for 4 years. My wife and I liked it. There is a supermarket there now, but is expensive. Next closest supermarket is market basket in Rindge. Theres an old walmart there too. Lots of shops in town. What are you looking for?
I'm looking for a great place to live for many years and raise a family....I hear it's a very nice town and has a lot going for it......
That is accurate, as is what is above. So if it all sounds ok- it'd be a GREAT place to live.
