I like to visit, people I've talked to who live there like it. It's a very artsy place...

Define good/bad? What are your interests? If kind of the cute rural artsy place is your thing- it's great. If not...then it's not.

Peterborough has the MacDowell art colony, regional hospital, good schools, but astronomical property taxes. COL is quite high for being removed from a larger population center with more services. Beware of the hidden "view tax" that is tacked on to the property tax bill- particularly if it has a view of Mt. Monadnock or lake/pond frontage.

Peterborough has been an outpost of old money for a century or more. The propery values and prices reflect this. If you can afford it Peterborough is one on New Hampshire's gems.

it's also one of the more liberal towns in the Monadnock area - depending on what you're looking for, this could be good, bad or indifferent.

I lived there for 4 years. My wife and I liked it. There is a supermarket there now, but is expensive. Next closest supermarket is market basket in Rindge. Theres an old walmart there too. Lots of shops in town. What are you looking for?

I live in Hillsborough County. I've been to Peterborough a few times and it is a remarkable area. Very little trouble at all (if any).

That is accurate, as is what is above. So if it all sounds ok- it'd be a GREAT place to live.
