How hard is it to get a job at either of these places, if you do? Do you have to know someone? Do you have to have 'excellent references?' or can the average, educated person find a job at either place?

Depends on what you do and what they are looking for. I'm sure there are lots fo low level maintenance jobs and such, and afaik all the jobs have great benefits.

It's the higher paying jobs that are few and far between that every one wants and applies for.

What do you do?

Well, I'm a certified teacher with a Master's Degree but have customer service & office experience as well. And a BA in English.

I have to learn how to do Excel, and more Microsoft Applications in order to be up on all the technology (I use a computer every day at home, so I know how to operate one, do internet and so forth).

Check both the hospital's and the college's websites, they both list current employment opportunities. I do work as a nurse at DHMC and I love it. I've worked there for almost 30 years now, so I don't know much about trying to get a job there right now, except that the whole application/interview/hiring process at DHMC takes FOREVER!! The college isn't much faster either.

Hope this helps.
