I buy larger quantites of meat (steaks for a BBQ) from Mr. Steer on Buttrick Road near the Rt 128 and Rt 102 crossroads. Deli quantites I buy from Shaw's Supermarket on Rt 102. I avoid Market Basket as IMHO they are the Wally World of Groceries.
I second the recommendation for Mr. Steer for their marinated meats for cook-outs, etc. If you are looking for more locally grown, check out J & F Farms in Derry. I second the recommendation on Farmer's Markets. There should be at least one locally farm/meat vendor, and if not there, ask and I'm sure you can get a recommendation from another farmer.

In actuality, Market Basket remains a privately-owned Demoulas-family corporation with 67 locations in MA & NH. , while Shaws and Star Market are wholly owned subsidiaries of Super-Valu of Minnesota. Super-Valu operates 2,505 food and food/drug combination stores, 878 in-store pharmacies, 117 fuel centers and serves as primary distributor to an additional 2,200 stores.
Recently, former Walmart executive Craig Herkert took over for Jeff Noddle as CEO of SuperValu. Interesting.

Thanks again. I'll be calling them (Blood farm) tomorrow to find out their prices and where they process their meat. It would about 50 min drive for me, so want to get some info beforehand.
Mr Steer would be much easier to check out, since it's not too far from my kiddos' pediatrician's office
Be aware that Bloods Farm grows very little of their own meat. Lots of the meat they sell comes in from Agar Supply and local farms that Bloods has no control over how the animals are raised.
That being said, they do have a nice selection of meat and we have used them for processing our lamb, goat and pork when we need a usda butcher for our customers.
Good to know. Ideally, I would like to find a farm that raises and processes its own beef, so, we'll see
Thank you again for all the suggestions.
