for the most part, we have had warm sunny days as we get into foliage season. I took a ride out route 101 on Sunday to Keene. Perterborough was beautiful! sadly I had left my memory card for the camera in my computer, or I'd have great pictures to send you, with the bright sunshine on the array of colors. I hadn't been out that way in years but remembered it as one of the most beautiful rides in the state. the second most beautiful in my opinion and any season is route 107 from Raymond to Laconia, in my opinion. It have high overlooks and old farmhouses, a few wanderings through villages.

Concord and surrounding areas will be peak this weekend. The rain we're experiencing is dropping a few leaves but, the weekend looks pretty good for a drive up here.

And, for those of you that would like to experience a small town wide fair, check out the Goffstown, NH pumpkin festival and regatta that's taking place this weekend. The festival features a giant pumpkin weigh off with many hovering around the 800 to 1000 pound mark. Local residents have held two world records in the past few years with pumpkins that neared 1200 lbs.

And, if that's not enough excitement for you, after the weigh off, some of the big pumpkins are hollowed out and local folks, dressed in costume, race(?) them down the river which flows through the center of town to the finish line. There's face painting, a church penny sale, food to eat and more.

Just some info for those of you that would like to get out and see the colors. Enjoy....

We drove to Peterborough from Manchester last year. We didn't make it as far as Keene (with 2 little boys we had to consider the drive back). Someday I will visit there.

Peterborough was a quirky little town yet quaint. We had lunch at a 50's style diner, then we ventured over to the Toadstool Bookshop. It was filled with books and I could've been lost for hours (again 2 little boys - not gonna happen). So, instead enjoyed treats in the cafe. It was crowded, but somehow felt cozy & everyone was so nice.

Yummy apple pie! My son enjoyed a cookie & cocoa with lots of whipped cream of course! Ahh...thanks for reminding me of the memories. Cheers!

I spent yesterday in the whites. Awesome colors. It's my first fall out here and I can see why people love it so much. I tried to hike Mt. Jefferson but the 15 degree weather, 40 mph winds, and 4'' of SNOW above timberline turned us back. Still great to be outside. Lots of hiking to be had at the lower elevations. I'll try to post some pics this week.
