Hubby and I decided to go for a quick dinner at the Littleton Diner tonight. We were sitting there, occasionally joking around with the people working there and this gentleman came over and handed us a card and introduced himself to us. Mike Gravel. I have a habit of speaking before my mind is put in gear, so to speak, so as he introduced himself and shook our hands, told us he was running for President, I blurted out - "Really? Why have I never heard of you?"

I will give him credit - he smiled, was friendly, talked about where he had come from and that he was basically considered a "dark horse candidate" so didn't get much if any coverage. He was with what I assume was his wife and son. I felt bad for them, as there was hardly anyone in the place, but they had something to eat, were friendly, then it looked like they were headed to other places in town where people were dining or hanging out.

Seemed like a nice guy, but really didn't talk about much except what he had done in the past. Wish I had thought quicker so I could have asked him some specific questions...ah well.....

I think that it's wonderful that you now live in a place that the candidates just walk around the local diner introducing themselves.

Now that you live there, maybe you can have a list of questions prepared in advance for your next opportunity.

DareToDream, you'll have to put together a list of questions to ask so you're not on the spot next time. Just a couple more weeks and they'll all descend on some other state

Gravel, he da man!
Besides Kucinich, he is the one on the D side who says what he thinks and believes, and doesn't froth at the mouth with politician-triple-nothing-speak.
I like Gravel, he is at least an honest man. I think Diogenes would have been pleased.

I have to admit that I have never heard of Gravel either. How cool that is, that you get to meet some of the Presidental hopefuls. Haha, having a list is a good idea, that way you can hammer them on how they feel about this or that

I guess I *am* going to have to start carrying a list of questions with me - good idea!

Since I had not heard of him, I did go to the WMUR site for some info and I saw that he was actually scheduled to be at the Littleton Diner! It still boggles my mind that so many stop here in town <g>
