It is literally in NH but most visitors are from Massachusetts.
I went there in the past, but not so much in the recent 3 years due to the pandemic.

When I was there yesterday, I found it was much more crowded than before. I could not find a place to park after driving around (very slowly) for 30 minutes, which never happened to me in the past.
The business street also expanded, with more shops and restaurants.

The small casino house now has minimum bet $5 and maximum bet $50 for blackjack. I think it used to be $1~2 due to the special license.

Next time go a bit further north on the Blvd. up to Rye. It will still be crowded but come mid-August, a lot of folks start head home because the kids have sports practice before school starts. Jenness Beach will be the first one you come to with metered parking and there is also Wallis Sands beach with a pay to park (last I knew $15 per car for the day) Further up. Pirates Cove Beach is a bit before it, but you will have to park on the Blvd heading south and walk onto it.

Do not leave any valuables in your car. Crews from Massachusetts come up to try to break into them each summer.

Its so busy now and its nice to see... help keep the business going! I think you went during the "Barbie Weekend" thing they were having, I heard huge turnout. So might have been a bit busier than normal?

We are locals (20min from Hampton) and usually hit up North beach, Rye, or Salisbury.

We drive 1A north and south multiple times each week...including the stretch in Hampton Beach. I typically gauge the crowd size by observing the parking lots (are they full) and cost per car. On weekends, the prime location lots will charge between $20-70 (sometimes even $80) per vehicle. Last summer, a number of lots charged $50-80 quite often in July-Aug. This summer, I have yet to see the price go above $50. Obviously, this isn't scientific, just my observations.

Also, the Hampton Beach drive on 1A north from the split (just after the bridge, Wok the Wok) to the bend at Boar's Head can take 30+ minutes on a very busy Fri or Sat afternoon/evening. Saw that a lot last summer. This summer, the same stretch hasn't taken more than 10 minutes.

We only spend actual time in Hampton Beach in the offseason to avoid crowds.

.

As someone who used to live on Cape Cod and loosely involved thru family with the town beach sticker programs, those prices are insane. There is no way I would mentally justify that kind of spending to park or visit a crowded beach which is known to be overrun by urbanites from MA.

Parking in Portland, ME is very similar. Last time we were there everything was $8/hr and up. I'll stick to Portsmouth for a seacoast town visit.

I dislike going to the beach or coast in the summer. I much prefer the mountains or small lakes without the city people everywhere.

We drove through Hampton Beach today...decent crowd but not packed...no traffic backups...no lot was at capacity...prices $15-20...very cheap for mid-Aug.

I do recall one Saturday about a month ago with massive traffic backup in both directions (maybe 4th of July weekend)...vehicles at a standstill.

It depends on the time too.
I arrived in the afternoon, probably the worst time for parking.
