Can my car pass state inspection? engine light is on

I guess it all depends on who your mechanic is

How is that? The device they hook the car up to via the OBD records the check engine light being on. I don't think that the mechanic can override that...

No but they can overlook it, not all shops are reputable.

The trucks I drive do not require emissions testing and a check engine light does not mean your vehicle is unsafe.
Sorry your mechanic is not a reputable one there NHDave. Maybe you should look for a new one.

I don't recall anywhere in any of my posts saying I had an unreputable mechanic, do you actually read posts or just type random crap?
