Hi, we live in Georgia and are thinking about relocating sometime in the next 2 years.
We are suddenly coming up for a quick tour in a week or so. We weren't planning on getting up there to look around until next summer, but due to a death in the family, we have to travel to New Jersey and decided to pop up to NH since we will be pretty close. (not sure on the exact date yet, but within 5-10 days I would say... long story)
We only have 2 (maybe 3) days to spend in NH. We have two young boys, ages 1 and 3.
Any suggestions for cheap (no frills) motels in the Lake Winnipesaukee area (we're planning to drive all the way around it from Laconia to Alton), Manchester, Concord, and Keene?
I would love to find a place with a separate bedroom(s) that we can close the door and have a sep. living area (so we can put our 1 year old to bed earlier). [Or two adjoining rooms if the rate is really good.] $50-80 a night would be ideal. We could go up to $120 if need be. *My big wish is to have some kind of suite so we won't all have to bed down in one room at the same time (a very difficult feat right now).
This is just our introductory visit and we are planning 2 more next year (summer and December). Our main goal for this trip is to enjoy the scenery and get a feel for a few of the towns where we could end up.
Any advice would be great. We are looking forward to our first visit and the opportunity to see your beautiful state.
there are a lot of nice hotels around the lake - The Margate by Marriott has beautiful suites but $120 a night limits you -
There is a Holiday Inn express in Tilton as well as a Super 8 that might suffice. You could check with Steele Hill Resorts in Sanbornton to see if they have any openings - sometimes you can get a suite for $119. plus taxes.
The Steele Hill Resort has exactly what I want for $119 midweek. I'm hoping it will work out so we can stay there.
If anyone else knows of motels that offer separate bedroom/ living room suites, I will check those too. Might have to go over the $120 mark for sure... but worth it I guess.
