I am loathe to trust any jeweler or coin dealer. I'm interested in purchasing a gold or silver coin as a gift for the holidays but don't want to get ripped off. I can order online but the premiums are usually much higher. Are there any good recommendations for coin dealers anywhere in the bottom half of the state?
As I recall, the Holiday Inn off Exit 4 of Rte 3 had (or has) coin shows every third Sunday and I think Stamp collectors in another room the same time. Free admission and you can walk around and talk with the dealers. Most are hobbyists so they will give their opinions freely.
I went a couple of times a few years back and got some nice old coins which I used as gifts.
