I suggest living near where you will be working unless the community is outrageous. With gas prices escalating living local is going to be in vogue real soon!

Took the job in NH. Moved to Windham last July, so I am practically a 'local' now 1 year later. Love my job and have no regrets about the move. We had a little more snow here this past winter than I'd care for, but you CANNOT beat the summers here. Plus SoNh and even Boston traffic compared to Atlanta is night and day difference.

My commute now: 8 miles. Avg 15 minutes.
Atlanta commute: 12 miles. Avg 65 minutes.

I, needless to say, am VERY HAPPY about that.

It's always nice to read of somebody coming here and making it through their first winter with a minimum of complaints-good for you! If it's any consolation, this past winter was WAY more snow than usual. Usually we go through periods of snow, bare ground, more snow, mild, cold, mild, etc. This year it was snow, snow, snow (but somewhat milder temps than usual) Even in Southern NH we got slammed over and over, but with many little storms, no real "jackpots" that I can remember... Sort of like labor, we never remember how bad it *really* was

Congrats on your move, hope you are enjoying Windham! Try to be sure and get to FLOW I think in 2 weeks. The strawberry shortcakes are GREAT!

Good for you, Kwiley! 12 miles in 65 minutes? You sure you didn't live in SoCal?
Thanks, Country, for reminding me that if I check the "location" spot it might tell where someone is! Doh!

Congratulations on the successful move and job....and surviving this past winter! We love the spring, summer and fall here compared to where we were in NYS - they more than make up for the cold and snow in the winter!
